Hey all.
Does anyone know of ANY studys or just experience with miconazole against seb derm? -
My doctor have putted me on Sproanox, and said that I could either use a hydrocortisone 1% while, or a hydrocortisone 1% with miconazolnitrat.
Anyone? -
Thx :)

I was prescribed miconazole (daktarin cream in the UK) when I first had seb.derm. 8 years ago. It worked brilliantly, and after using it for a week or so my seb.derm. completely disappeared - and it didn't come back for about 4 years! After that I had intermittent flare-ups but the miconazole always got them under control.
Sadly I've more recently developed a reaction to the stuff - my skin goes bright red and burns if I put it on - so it's no longer an option for me. I understand that it is more potent and potentially more irritating than other anti-fungal creams like ketaconazole - which I can tolerate, but it just doesn't work for me.
I definitely think it's worth trying, just bearing in mind that it could be irritating. Tiny amounts, test on a very small area, the usual advice with new topicals.
Good luck,
Kristina

I don't know of any studies but I've had good experience with it and people I know have had mixed results - I posted about it on the following thread:
