blush:
Do you have the rosacea-radar? blink:
I developed an obsession (kind of) when I'm outside in places with lots of people, I count the rosaceans. laugh: This one has it, this one doesn't. For example, last time I was in a supermarket, I counted more than 10 older men with rynophima.

laugh:laugh:I'm guilty too but don't actually count them. I just notice them and wonder if they are fellow sufferers. The man in the paint store the other day had broken capillaries. I feel sorry for them but figure some of them probably don't even care if they are indeed rosaceans.

Yes, this is the great part. I don't actually "count" them, but I admire the ones that don't care about it as much as I do.

Yes, i too am always looking. I see many who look worse than me and I just want to go up to them and ask Do you have rosacea, there are many things that might help. My daughter says I'm crazy.

I am so amazed of how many sufferers there are. Also amazed when someone asks me what's wrong i reply oh i have rosacea. years ago i would have to explain in details no one would know what this is.

now, seriously almost everyone knows or has heard of rosacea and many have been very understanding.

I get a lot at department stores and other places people coment how beautiful my skin is. I then have to correct them and tell them you mean how well i apply my concealer and foundation cuase if only you know what is under and by the time i finish telling them my ears are telling all.

Yeah, I do this too. I counted 7 on my last trip to the supermarket. Now that I'm looking for it I realize just how common it is. Whats surprising is how many younger people have it or at least have strong pre-rosacea. I wish someone would have told me when I had pre-rosacea/mild rosacea. I still can't understand why my old derm never said anything...

Hopefully, a real treatment or cure will be found soon. It can't be ignored and trivialized forever..

I do this too LOL. My husband thinks I'm crazy but I'm always pointing out people who I think have rosacea. Sometimes I want to go up to them to say have you tried this or that but my husband always stops me and truthfully I don't think I would approach a stranger - unless they asked for my help.

I do admire people who just don't care about it though but that will never be me. As time goes on though I feel a lot better about my rosacea and have accepted it and come to terms with it and just feel strong emotionally. Time is a great emotional healer.

Best wishes,
Melissa

I used to do the same thing when I was out about about!
Some days I would see several rosaceans with varying stages of severity.

While I have seen lots of people with flawed skin, which included visual capillaries and patches of redness, I doubt they are all rosaceans. I expect they are sun damage victims. I know there is a cross over, hence the reason some doctors feel topical vitamin A will benefit us, as it does sun damaged skin, but I do believe there is a difference.
These people never experience pain, nor flushing.

So, if we ignored all these people during our count, I wonder how many would actually be rosaceans?

But, yes, technicalities aside, I do spend a considerable amount of time, observing other people's skin. I have purposefully followed people into a shop, just so I can get a close up! Daft isn't it!

And Melissa, I expect the rosaceans we see out and about really do worry about the disease. They probably just don't show it. We are all actors to some extend :)

You see I'm the opposite - I feel like everyone else's skin is perfect except mine - I was on a course last week - probably around 50 people on the course which lasted a week so we all got to know each other really well. The thing that really bugged me was that I seemed to be the only one who had any type of skin issue full stop - I'm not saying they all had perfect skin but certainly they all had normal skin. There was no one else who had to go back to their room after evening sessions before dinner to clean their face and cover up again because their bumps and redness were showing through that morning's make up! It doesn't help that my gorgeous husband has the most perfect glowing poreless even toned skin you have ever come across - and all he does is splash it with water every morrning - whereas my skin and eye routine each day probably takes 90 minutes.
