thumbs:Never in my life I used retinoids to treat my acne. I only used Accutane once and the side effects went away after I stopped taking the pill. When my acne came back in 2006 a Derm prescribed Differin gel .1%. I used alone 1st then a couple of months later I took Doxycicline. I got different results and never really knew if this gel was really working to control my acne. The thing is that i decided to stopped the Differin because for what I was paying, the results were not that good and then my face was never the same. blush:The redness, papules, plaques, began. I even got seborreic dermatitis like never in my life!
I'm so confused right now, was it the retinoid or just that my skin changed? Please I wish to check if others went throught the same experience with topical retinoids. hi:

I used both accutane and the various retinoid based topicals. These no doubt made my rosacea worse but I was already suffering from it anyway (undiagnosed).

If you were not a flusher or had any other symptoms then perhaps they did push you this way?

Thank u 4 ur response Phlika29! You've been the only one since I posted this thread.

I always had sensitive kind of allergic skin. I suffered from acne that aggravated somewhat in my early twenties (Im pushing 30 now). I was constantly using acne medications with no sun protection bc they made my face even oilier. I noticed some occasional redness in the my nose because here in Puerto Rico the sun is really strong but I remember back in 2003 I would get tans every week. I went to the beach I got a great tan that made me feel more attractive.love2:

Back in 2006 I used Differin, never before I used retinoids (I took Accutane back in 2001, not a miracle worker for me really) and I stopped using it after a couple of months and my skin has never been the same. I stopped using it back in may 2007, bc I used salicilic acid at the same time, NEVER got a negative reaction even though the tube says to not use any other acid or medication with it. Unbelievable really, but then I read that mixing salicilic acid and differin really stops them both from really working. It unactivates (dont know the word sorry) both actives ingredients, dont really know. I went back to differin .3% but it seemed to trigger excema and seb derm like never before. Im sure the differin had a lot to do with my face getting worse. I was prone to redness due to the acne meds but if I stopped the med the redness would go away but not now after the differin. What do u think?huh:
