Hi Lookout,
I swung by the clinique counter for something else right before christmas and saw this line...of course I had to try it! I bought the cleanser ($25), the moisturizer ($65), i refused to buy the calming stuff since it was full of hydrocortisone. Basically, it's a total waste of money. The cleanser was nice, but not worth that kind of cash, and the cream is meant for all the clinique skintypes(1,2,3,4) therefore isn't very moisurizing. I used it for three days and called it quits. My skin is combination and this stuff was making it very dry/dehyrated, which in turn lead to my face becoming more red! The women at the clinique counter also said they had a training on this product and were told to tell clients not even to use other clinique products in combination with this stuff or it would effect results, so who knows if they want you to even take your meds with these products. Lucky for me, the clinique counter took all these products back, so you can always try it pretty risk free. If you do buy this product, I hope you have better results! :)

I hate it when websites aren't up front about the ingredients. I've emailed them asking so will post here if they reply.

What a disappointment! Thanks for sharing what happened....I won't be wasting my time on it for sure now. Hydrocortisone....that's just plain wrong...what are they thinking

I use their makeup (repairware) and it is awesome stuff...covers so well and hydrating and totally non-irritating....best ever so I was thinking that maybe they actually came out with something of value....figures!

Clinique very kindly wrote to me (addressing me as ms! - how very dare you! ) with the ingredients for their redness range. However they didn't have the urgent relief cream ingredients and will sent them on soon.

The cleanser looks pretty good so I might give that a go. Can't see any hydrocortizones in the moisturiser either?

I always break out with barely (topical or oral) wheat germ is also another problem for me...there are a couple things in there I would be leery of due to past bad experiences with. No I don't see hyrocort in there maybe in the other product and not these.

the hydrocortisone was only in the urgent relief cream...

I went to the clinique counter and asked if they had samples I could try and they told me no. They had every other kind of sample but this one. I asked her about the hydro..in the moisturizer and she said no there is not and checked also. I was upset that they did not do samples of this. I told the lady that people with rosacea are very very sensitive and put alot of money into products only to have them fail, they need samples of this. I asked her if they had this product line with toner and she said no. She said the urgent cream has the hydro, and I then told her very bad for rosaceans, there is a rebound effect with this stuff and it also thins the skin. I get so mad at these companies that produce stuff for us that eventually can harm us, obviously they do not know about rosacea..Needless to say, I did not buy it...Jenn

LOL

Not to change the subject but since we are talking about noticing other people's skin...Did you ever notice how many people have bad skin? I never noticed before I developed rosacea. Now it seems since I am more aware and looking at other people's faces more so many of them seem to have bad skin. It also seems like a lot of people have rosacea, but that's probably my imagination.

Jenn, You would think they would provide samples. I guess they would rather take back partially used bottles if you don't like it.

Melissa, I see people with bad skin all the time too. Although if I'm having a bad day it seems that everyones skin looks better than mine!

Melissa...I've had the same experience as you. Once I developed rosacea, I started looking at other peoples' skin. Many, many people have not-so-good skin. The good thing is that I didn't notice some of my coworkers' bad skin until I started thinking about skin "full-time". Therefore, many people might not exactly notice my skin right away. At least that is what I like (or try) to think!

Hi Cathy,

I just wish I had appreciated my lovely complexion while I had it.
People used to compliment me all the time and go on and on about it. I didn't understand what they were talking about because I just never noticed other people's skin and took mine for granted. I so wish I had realized it at the time. I guess it's like good health. You don't appreciate it until you don't have it anymore :( It's a valuable lesson in that I am now appreciating all the good things in my life because everything is so tenuous.

Best wishes,
Melissa

My experience has been the complete opposite...I had acne/oily skin since age 12 and everyone close to me...friends and others I worked with later in life...all had great skin...still do....I rarely meet or see anyone with "bad skin"......just me as usual. In fact since I was so young I have always dreamed of clear nice skin....I used to think when I got older I would finally have it...of course that never happened as I had acne problems my entire life and then at 33 rosacea showed up so that just about nix's that dream forever  ....at least you all can remember a time "when" your skin was flawless....just for a day I would love to experience it.

I want to say that I stopped using cliniques product, well at least the toner it started to make my face burn. I stopped using the cleanser a long time ago, before I stopped the toner because I thought the same thing..Jenn

Just to share my experience on the Clinique products,

Moisturizer – OK but not that moisturize so you have to apply to face twice or 3 times a day. Clinique products is oil-free so it can not “lock” much water underneath the skin. I will keep it as I need a moisturizer for the winter. I do not like Cetaphil cream(too greasy) nor Eucerin redness relief lotion(too light for the winter).

CLEANSER – OK but after you rinse off the CLEANSER you would still feel something left on the face. So I have to use Cetaphil gentle CLEANSER to remove the left-over of Clinique CLEANSER. Maybe I will return the CLEANSER, if Eucerin redness relief CLEANSER can “really” remove sunscreen and make-ups.

Sunscreen w/ SPF 20 - maybe good but I am happy with Linda Sy ZincO which is more moisturize and can be used as foundation.

I also told the sales at the counter that they should provide sample as all other companies do, especially samples for people have sensitive skin like Rosaceans.

Jenn - my derm told me to stop using tuner as it contains alcohol which may irritate our sensitive skin.

I dont use regular alcohol toners, I use the natural ones, this is why I will not get cliniques toner...Jenn

Cetearyl alcohol is an an emulsifying wax and actually gives the skin more moisure, rather than the ethyl alcohols me need to avoid

I thought cetyl and ceteryl alcohol were the same thing, so not sure why they are both listed. A quick google search says they are a vegetable emulsifier.

cetearyl alcohol. Fatty alcohol used as an emollient, emulsifier, thickener, and carrying agent for other ingredients. Can be derived naturally, as in coconut fatty alcohol, or synthetically.

cetyl alcohol. Fatty alcohol used as an emollient, emulsifier, thickener, and carrying agent for other ingredients. Can be derived naturally, as in coconut fatty alcohol, or synthetically. It is not an irritant and is not related to sd alcohol or ethyl alcohol.

I use the Clinique Cleanser in the pump "mild cleanser" and have no problems with it. The toner I stopped using as I didn't feel I needed it since I seldom wear make up. The Dramatically Different Moisturizer isn't so great but I can use it without breaking out.

I have never used Clinique and strange that last month while at the mall I stopped at the counter at Macys as I was passing thru to get to my car in the mall.

I wanted to get a cream at Rodan + Fields at Nordstroms but they were no longer there and did not want to walk around the mall to look for the Sephora store so stopped and asked about products and the lady told me about the two items for redness solutions and I bought the cream and she had no more of the urgency item, good thing since the hydrocortisone would not be good for me or my face.

I am more than half way done with this jar and not going to buy more since I really like the Aveeno ultra calming cream and can get that for about $15 at walgreens and the pharmacist told me about it last year and she has rosacea.

Dear Fellow Rosacean's!!

I had some news that might shed some light on your Rosacea. As may of you may know, I have been fighting this same fight for 9 years. Again……I won’t waste your time listing all the products and doctors, treatments, and laser’s I have tried. So…As of now. I am free of Rosacea. At least for the near future I am ok! Let me explain the last month of my treatments.
I was looking for yet another doctor to treat my vascular disorder Rosacea. I went to see Dr. Beightol in Naples Florida. I explained the huge history of my Rosacea. He suggested I try there Laser..which was the Genini Laser w/ Laserscope. He said it should help and then I would only need a few touch ups every 3-4 months. I agreed and the Treatment began! The first 3 days after treatment….were ok,…..I was little red but that was expected. Not a problem. Then about the 5 day. I got worse. I got extremely Red and Flush. I called him. And I went to see him. He wanted to put me on a Steroid. And of course I was not happy! And I told him about the rebound affect. He was aware it…and said that after using the “Triamcinolone Acetonide” steroid for 5 days. I was to switch to “Ketoconazole” cream. And continue to use the cream,…2 times a day until he said to stop. He said this would keep the rebound affect in check! I was skeptical. He said…Lets try it my way first! I agreed to try it. What else was I to do???. So I did….and it was looking pretty good. It really did stop the rebound affect! Go figure! …After 3 weeks. I was shocked to see some real results. So..now comes the tricky part! About 10 days later…I was scheduled for a follow up visit. Well…about 5 days before that visit. I broke out with a very Red and Flush and Itchy face! I thought….OH… NOOOO…HE WE GO AGAIN!. So I called him. He said to come in. But..before I went in for the check up. I took a few days of letting my skin detox from everything! I didn’t use anything at all for 2 days. Just the Cetifill Soap. And my skin was still red and itchy. So I used my wife’s…expensive moisturizer she had from “Mary Kay”. ( this is not an endorsement for Mary Kay) …but I used it! I just had to stop the itching. With in 3-4 days….my skin was not itching and it even looked pretty good! Surly..this was not the cure all!! But ..it was working. So I continued to use it, along with my Blue Lizard SPF sun screen for babies!
So…I went to see the doctor and told him what I had done. He explained that my problem was 2 fold. I had the under lying Rosacea that was always a problem. But when I was treated in the past for that. The “Seborrhea” would kick in. So I had duel problems at the same time! If I treated one…the other problem arrived. And it was like a See-saw affect! I had to balance both skin problems at the same time. And keeping my PH /acid on my skin was very important. At this date..I am looking dammm good! Not perfect. But the best I have in 9 years! So ..if your having a problem with Rosacea. It may be also that you have Seborrhea. And you can’t notice them both…while one or the other is flared up! I have listed my treatment below! Good luck to all!

Morning: 1.) Wash with Cetaphil soap.
2.) Dab some cotton balls with Alcohol Free Toner from Neutrogena.
It helps with the PH / Acid balance on your skin.
Tricky Part: 3.) Use a moisturizer / hydrant that is for sensitive skin. This may take
sometime because they all work differently with different skin! I tried
Mary Kay. LOL All I can say..is it worked. And I’m a guy!! So..go
figure! What ever works for you…do it!
4.) I use a sun block for babies. Either use the Blue Lizard 15/30 or the
Neutrogena 30 spf for SENSITIVE SKIN. It will say that on the bottle!

Good luck to all!!

Hi guys, today I received my samples from Clinique redness solutions and tried the cleanser, it was good, I thought it was not going to work bc I have oily skin but my face felt clean and not tight or irritated. It was humid tonight and of course I have some blotchiness that its easily covered with the Almost makeup. Tomorrow I will try the daily relief cream, let's see I hope its not as heavy as the one from Dermadoctor, that one worked for a week or so then it seemed too heavy for my face. I think it is the petrolatum it has, that ingredient seems to work at 1st, making the skin healthy and even, but after a couple of days my oily skin seems to resent that ingredient bc it is supposed to create a layer to protect and heal the skin. At 1st that cream seemed like a miracle, my face was pale and even, it was great while it lasted. I have tried it again but I don't get the same results.Cry:

i have been using the daily cream for a month or so now didnt want to waste it or my money ive done that too much already. it doesnt irritate me anymore and i think it does help control the redness but only to a certain extent!!! when u put it on it has a nice thick balm feel to it but can feel tight and dry after a few moments
