View Full Version : When symptoms subside: leave well enough alone?

I was diagnosed with blepharitis about three weeks ago and started using Lid Care (lid scrub) and doxycycline. After my two weeks on antibiotics, I continued using the scrub. However, I soon developed some real redness and burning on the skin around my eyes. I stopped using the Lid Care a couple of days ago and that skin is almost normal again.

If I don't have an active case of blepharitis, my eyes are clear, and I have no other symptoms like itching, burning or dry eyes, can I safely stop the scrub, or should I continue it or some other alternative as maintenance? The only visible sign of ocular rosacea I have now is a single broken vein on the right eyelid.

Hi Tompkin,

I would stop the lid scrubs you are using as it sounds like you are having an adverse reaction to something in them or perhaps the rubbing of your lids. If you are not waking up with caking of your lids in the AM and you are not prone to styes/chalazions and such I would not worry about treating for now.

I would recommend preserv-free lubricating drops as necessary.

Best wishes,
Melissa
