First, thanks to everyone for your advice. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Again, I am on 40 mg of oracea (doxycycline) per day, along with using finacea on each cheek each night.

which one is really the most important? meaning, if I had to drop using one. I have had no side effects from the pills. I have no problem thinking I might take them for a long time. The finacea--while I don't feel I have a reaction to it, not too much stinging--could it be that a cream like that can actually keep your rosacea inflamed? meaning--the stuff is just not for me? I have sensitive skin anyway? Because the small bumps seem to have improved a little. They are just red. My bumps are real flat to the skin, they don't stick out much. but I have several, and from a distance the cheek looks like it has a lesion.

any advice? could I lay off the finacea a few days and see what happens? I just don't want to have to "start over" with it. I have used it for 3 weeks.

Give yourself a little more time with the Oracea and Finacea. You have to remember that Oracea is a low dose doxy. You won't see dramatic results immediatley like with a full strength antibiotic. You are seeing some improvement, and thats good. If you think Finacea is too harsh, maybe Metrogel or Metrocream may be better for you.
I've been taking Oracea for about 8 months, and I use Metrogel 1% every night. Sometimes Finacea on spots during the day if needed.
Yes I still get some spots. But I was very bad before I started. I would say I'm about 90% clear, most of the time. For me, thats wonderful.
IMO, the best treatment for p&ps is an internal med, and a topical used together. But as you know, everyone reacts differently, you need to find what is best for your skin.

If you are worried about the finacea then why not just leave off for a couple of days and see what happens. Then reintroduce on just one side of the face and watch to see the effect.

I would not advise that you stop the oracea as it takes time to get it into the system.

I would also be wary about starting to introduce moisturisers until your skin is settled and you know the effect of the two medicines.
