We've taken the plunge and ordered one. It's a very different console! I would love to hear any input, positive or negative, on this car from folks that have/had one.
Much appreciated.

I have no doubt that you weighed up the pros and cons before ordering it, TP! I don't even know what a Pirus is? Guess I could Google it but I'm not planning on buying a new car right now. Although, Greg has been thinking about a second hand BMW. Mmm! Why do 2 adlults need 4 cars and a bike? LOL Well, the Harley is a must, of course! LOL That's the run wild vehicle of choice! Whoo hoo! I'm happy with one car to get me around...but do love a run on the back of the Harley!
Anyway, not wanting to hijack your thread, I would be interested in what made you choose the Pirus from the others in the same range.

Twickle, you will love it...easily the best car choice I've ever made
(plus you are fighting global warming/terrorism/dependance on foreign oil
in one fell swoop)!

Be careful, though: they may reduce smog, but they can also increase smug (http://tinyurl.com/2nm5nu).

OMG so funny. It's true, they are becoming a status symbol. Especially now that Lexus has 2 hybrid sedans, and a SUV. The luxury sedan is
$104,000. So far haven't seen any...

I am so ready to love this thing! Because it is different, and I think that's kinda neat. After seeing that SouthPark episode though...
The US folks can have leather and heated seats, but I guess Toyota thinks Canadians that care about the environment are all vegetarians because we don't have that option -- no heated seats either. So I'm having those added as an after market customization. We need to toast our bums above the 49th parallel!
They are looking at reducing the cost of the vehicle with the next iteration -- to be more in line with cars in the same size category. As well, there is talk of the mileage being in the 100mpg range with the new battery they are working on. But that could be delayed while they figure that battery out.

Congrats on the new car Corinna!
A very environmentally sound decision :D
I'm with you on the heated seats issue. It's the best invention right next to TIVO! Nothing better on a cold rainy/snowy day and you're driving around with a nice toasty bun
Best wishes,
Melissa
PS Did you name it yet?

Hehe, I tried the naming thing, but when my husband named his Mini "Winston" I gave up!
I've heard of TiVo, I wonder if it is available in Canada now? I'm going to look into it, now that we're getting chilly nights and short days.

Hi Corinna,
I absolutely love TiVO.
We have had our original since about 2000 and since then have upgraded to the HD TiVO. We have them with every TV :D .

It really is amazing and much better than the DVR that you can get with cable or satellite. I know because in our shore house we tried that and we ended up buying TiVO's there also.
We even have a TiVO sticker on our car, but that's just to drive my husband's friend Joe crazy.
I just would like to add that I have no affiliation with TiVO in any way...except that IMHO it is the best invention of the century (20th and 21st when HD TiVO arrived).
I would think you could get it in Canada.
Best wishes,
Melissa
PS Winston is an adorable name for a mini!
I used to walk a dog named Winston when i was a little girl.
He was a bulldog and his owner was Frank Fields (a NYC newscaster).

Hi Melissa,
:D LOL! The Mini reminded Tim of a bulldog (his favourite breed, it's an Englishman thing I suppose), which inspired the name. We are taking Winston (I call it the JCW) to the tip of the island today for a weekend of adventure. He's a little cramped but he does a mighty fine job in the twisties and the road is wacky!!
I'm going to look into TiVo when I come back. I don't watch alot of tv so when I do I would like to be able to watch what I like!
I just wrapped up the entire BattleStar Galactica (reimagined) DVD set (what's out anyway). Wow  It's worth getting TiVo just so don't miss an episode of that!
Best wishes and have a great weekend!

Just think, next time you come back from a weekend getaway you might have all your favorite shows all lined up waiting to be viewed courtesy of TiVO!
Have a great weekend!! :D
