Hello,

I am trying to find a doctor to take my mother to for her Ocular Rosecea. She needs a doctor that can put her on a good routine to keep this condition under some control.. it is so frustrating to watch her go through this. It is painful and interfers with everything. I am sure all of you know how it is to one extent or another. Please, please help! She has not been able to do any of the things she use to enjoy for years now. I am so afraid it is not reversable at this point. I will be calling a doctor in Tigard/Portland area Monday for suggestion. He was listed on the forum as a Dr Darm. I was very intreged to see a Dr. Nase appeared to be coming to the Eugene area according to the form last year (or was it two years?) I had no success locating him on line or in the phone book for that area. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I recommend calling the Oregon Health Sciences dermatology department in Portland...to either go there or get a referral to a competent dermatologist in your area. I find OHSU very helpful with this sort of thing.

Why not go to Dr. Darm? he is an expert in rosacea, in the portland area.

Dr. Darm would be a good option if your mother would consider having Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatments. IPL treatments often do help with the symptoms of ocular rosacea because they treat the underlying vascular condition.

If you don't feel your mother is up to these kind of treatments (though he is saying on his website that his latest machine is painless) you may want to research others. Dr. Darm is not a dermatologist and although very knowledgable about rosacea, is only involved in treating it through IPL.

oh... I assumed he would be a very knowledgable derm as well.

Yeah, funny, but I think that the only IPL practitioner that I've been to who is a dermatologist is Dr. Bitter Sr. (and I've been to at least six). Must be other derms out there but a lot of them come in from other specialties.

Dr. Darm is in Tigard, (503/697-9777) a nice helpful man, I would imagine he still gives free consultations..
