When I was at the opthamologist today, he gave me a sample of a new eye drop that could replace the erythromycin ointment I currently use on my eyelids at bedtime.

It is "AzaSITE," azithromycin opthalmic solution.

I hope it will replace the ointment. Less greasy! :D

I used the AzaSITE many times and found it stings for a moment or two when applied. My opthamologist is now having me rub it into my eyelashes rather than drop into eye.

If you place it in the fridge it might stop the stinging.
Just check with the pharmacist if this is OK.

In my continued quest for ocular rosacea control <HA> I'm not using AzaSite differently (opthamologist directions): rub a drop of it into my eyelash line and apply any excess on the upper lid. Same process for both eyes, of course. Seems to be helping!

I also got this AZASITE from my eye doctor to replace Iquix. The doctor said Iquix is a strong antibiotic so after using Iquix for a week, she asked me to switch to this AZASITE.

Yes the pharmacist said keep AZASITE in the fridge.

Gosh those eye drops are so expensive. Both Iquix and AZASITE cost me 45 dollars, although I am covered by the insurance.

That sounds reasonable compared to some other eyedrops. I believe pataday is something like $140 if you don't have insurance. Everything is so expensive.

I hope this helps you!

Best wishes,
Melissa
