Ok Im not nutz. I am going to do a 5 day fast. 5 days not eating, only water, bad, you are all going to say. Not when you research it though. I have prepared for a month for this, It is my spiritual self that needs to do this. I am curious what effects it will have on my face, (though I am not doing this for these reasons, or for weight loss)
I am not recommending this to anyone, this is serious stuff, and I do not know how I will react to this. But I have taken the steps, I have back up if needed, and will end the fast if ANY signs say I should.
Wish me luck, will keep you posted.

Should have mentioned I stopped taking the Minocycline again, it was still messing up my gut, not nausea, just not right feelings. I was taking them on and off for the last month or so and then just stoped. I was doing more harm than good I think.

If I make it 3 days I will be happy, 5 days IS a lot, thats the goal time I have set, If I dont reach it it just means my body is not ready for it yet and I will not consider it a faliure.
Again, I dont want anyone to do this because I am, it is big time serious stuff, we are talking about not eating here, and that can wreak havok with your system if not prepared properly. And for the research I have done, my face is going to break out more (oh joy) as the body goes through a detox. Another it will get worse before it gets better thing, but again, not doing this for that reason.
Its the morning of day 2 now, not hungry in my stomach, but my brain is. I fantasize about food now, and my neighbors are having a BBQ today, a bring it and grill it get togethor, (and of course the nice cold beers will be plenty) because the weather is so nice, great timing guys, so I may not even make it past this day! I am going to try though, but I know when those goooooood smells hit my nose it may be a bust!

I've fasted before and my skin was worse than usual as the toxins left my body (but, like you say better after a couple of weeks).

Would you consider adding some pure vegetable juice and herbal teas into your fast? I have a good article on fasting in Phyllis Baulch's Alternative Medications book. She thinks that water only fasting is too hard on your system and you detoxify too quickly. Glad to look it up for you if your interested.

Wow, brave woman! 5 minutes, perhaps, but I could never last 5 days on just water.

Be interested to find out just how this affects you (and your dreaded 'R').

Good luck :)

I have fruit juice, and veg juice ( i dont know the brand its green and looks like it tastes yucky, so it must be good. lol) on hand if I need it if the detox goes too fast. I do plan on drinking a bit of herb tea also if it gets too rough.
Alas today though has already gone by the dumpster. My neighbors decided to have a spur of the moment brunch in addition to the BBQ tonight, I got a knock at my door at 10am with this greeting "We are having brunch too! Lots of ham and eggs and sausage, and a bloody mary with your name on it!" Hell Im only human. Ate some eggs, passed on the bacon and sausage, and enjoyed the bloody mary. (hey its vegetables, right? lol) Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

I think that your neighbors having the brunch and the cook out was an omen for you. 5 days of fasting is just way too long.

Thought I would give this thread a bump, as I have been chatting about the Master Cleanse fast in the sub derm and lemon juice thread in the similar co. conditions forum. I never got to do the water fast, so far life has been throwing too much at me and its just not the time. Fasting of any type is serious business and must not be taken lightly. I was so ready for this, but them whammo. But hey, life happens, and you deal with it.

It is quite a way to go with no nutients going into your body, but its not harmful, as long as you take the proper steps before the fast. 10 days by most is considered the limit to where you dont need to be medically suppervised. Low potassium, glucose levels creatine levels, all are needed stuff in our bodies, but none on the very high or low end of the scale. The liver and kidneys are working much harder during a fast, and it does need to be monitered for anyone considering doing an extended fast.

I fasted on water only for 36 days when I was 19 (20 yrs ago)
Why? To try to cure my rosacea and flushing of course!
I researched it thoroughly and waited for the right time to do it.
I still lived with my parents at the time, and they went on a 3 month
trip in the summer and that was my opportunity.

From what I had read, a shorter fast (up to a week) it is good to have
drinks with some nutrients such as weak vegetable juice but on long
fasts you want your body basically shut down completely so it was
water only. On days when it was difficult, I would touch the tip of my
tongue with a bit of mint extract. At the time it was a TREAT

I lost about a pound a day overall and was damn skinny when I stopped.
At the time it helped my allergies and flushing, but in the long term it
did not seem to do much good. However it did not do any harm either.
When I see how much food I consume in a month, or even one day, I
find it amazing that the human body can go with NOTHING for that long,
or even longer.

I had the house to myself and did this alone (no way I could have gotten
away with it if others were in the house) and in retrospect it was probably
kinda foolish or risky, but I believed my research that it was safe, and
it turned out ok. Too bad it didnt help my health.

Anyway, I see absolutely no risk with a 7-10 day fast whatsoever, and
I believe regular short fasts are healthy and good for your body.
They also teach you self control and respect for the food that we
all take for granted. I, however, have not fasted since.

wow that's a long time!

i've heard of a raw foodist going 52 days without food and only water on an occasion.
usualy only raw foodist can survive without food for so long.

i fast natuaraly a lot. i sometimes realise... of wow... i haven't ate for 2 or 3 days.
stuff like that.
also try not to eat unless hungry.

it's very healthy to fast often be it a day or 2 or more. even if our stomach growls... just ignore it.

our body needs a break from time to time.

but to fast... one must be careful about lifting heavy things ect... back accidents like strains usualy happen when one was hungry.

There are those people that live on a sort of starvation diet all the time and say they feel fantastic.

Hi, was just wondering what effect fasting has had on peoples rosacea??

I was reading about people fasting for 24 hours each week and all the health benefits this led to.

This sort of repetitive mini fasting would be much easier to do.
has anyone tried this kind of thing.
