So what are these "oils" anyway? Is it just a pill(s) that you take?

Thanks guys!!! :D Yes I am very excited!!

It's a pure organic seed-based oil (I don't get told whats in it until I finish the course) It's liquid and I take 3 5ml spoonful's a day. You can put it in food & stuff - but I take it on its own. It's disgusting, but hey it seems to be working so I don't care what it tastes like!!

I can't wait to find out how the other people are doing on the trial!!

If it works on other people it will be for sale in her shop - I'll try & get her to put some bottles on eBay for Rosacea sufferers who live abroad and can't get hold of it!!

The red in the first photo was your resting redness or was that during a flush?

25th April 2007, 12:40 PM
Thats really interesting.

In the past i tried taking Udos oil but i am not sure whether i too enough or not but i think after a certain amount of time i decided it wasn't helping, so stopped.

In the Diet Doctors book i have they talk about taking more omega 3 and 6 in yr diet to get rid of KP which can sometimes run alongside Rosacea so i guess its all interconnected.

Would be very interested to know what this oil is though at the end of the trial [-o<

Hi all!! I hope you are all well.

So sorry for my delay in posting!! I have had a lot going on! I recently turned 21 (25th of June) and have been very busy with work & play!! I am currently in the process of being filmed for a documentary for RAW television – plus I had an awful touch of gastroenteritis – which I was hospitalized with.

OIL UPDATE

I still don't know what was in the oil or when it will be for sale (Caz will be in touch with me) - I didn't really want to keep talking about it, as people were getting very disappointed about it not being for sale - & I felt bad as there wasn't anything I could do about it!

I thought I would share some before and after photos for you all,

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b209/livingitup/2.jpg

- Before – permanent redness, severe flushing (very frequently)

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b209/livingitup/untitled-3.jpg

I wore extremely thick camouflage make-up - as you can see in the bottom photos. Which was so heavy - my skin couldn't breathe, causing spots - and it would just slide off in the heat anyway!

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b209/livingitup/100_0056.jpg

- This is me now – still blush and flush but no where near what it was before. Do have background redness but nothing like before. Skin feels smoother then before but still very dry.

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b209/livingitup/100_0066.jpg

- Me. 29th June

I am still not confident about my looks, I still feel I look awful, but I feel alot better then I did about myself.

I am now just waiting on news about the oil. :D

All the best - please feel free anyone to drop me a PM for a chat :)

I am ok now thanks Hun - but was really bad at one point!! Horrible thing to have!!

RAW Television has asked me to take part in a Documentary about Hyperhidrosis - As I do also suffer with this aswell as Rosacea.

I will be mentioning my Rosacea aswell as I think we need to make people more aware of it!

It will be on Channel 5.

Hello Melissa

You look great plus your improvement is impressive and I hope it continues and that the oil becomes commercially available for others to try. Look forward to seeing the documentary and maybe you can let us know when it is scheduled to appear on Channel 5? Don't be nervous and I'm sure everything will go well so good luck. Sorry but didn't want to sidetrack your thread but wanted to answer Sarah's question and give some more information.

Hello Sarah

Raw TV is an independent television production company based in London who specialise in making high-quality documentaries for all the major broadcasters and one they made for BBC2 about "Inside Israel's Jails" won an award. They contacted me last November about a documentary they were planning to make and I wrote back to them with some other ideas I had at the time but for a variety of reasons I didn't have time to follow it up. Things have moved on since then and become much more interesting, so I might send them some other material to look at. I would like to see a TV documentary made focusing on the impact skin conditions have on the day to day lives of the sufferers and how vulnerable they are as prey to unscrupulous medical or non-medical people, when they are desperate for a cure or improved treatment.

We have most certainly seen it in recent times with rosacea and from what I have read it also happens frequently with those suffering from severe blushing / flushing problems, who get talked into having ETS surgery without realising the full facts about this procedure. It's probably rife in other areas also where people with medical conditions get conned into spending huge sums of money by others who to put it bluntly are just conmen. We all know in life that you have to be careful because there are always people out there trying to rip you off but I find those who do it to people who are ill or suffering from a disease are just despicable people. Maybe the time has come to get all this out in the open and a documentary on prime time TV featuring real people would be ideal.

Thanks

Peter

Hi Melissa,

Happy Birthday :flower:

Many thanks for the latest pictures. I'm so happy that you found this relief from flushing. Keep my fingers crossed for the TV Documentary. I also suffer from hyperhydrosis on hands, feets, armpits and when I'm really nervous on my whole body, except my face...but there I can count on my flushing :) . Don't know how you treat your symtoms but for the sweaty hands and feet I use a tapwater-home-device since about 20 years now. Works absolutely great for me. If I use it regularely I have totaly dry palms and feet. This gave me back so much selfconfidence. I wished thousands of times that there would be something easy like this treatment working against flushing!

All the best,
Barbara

I've never seen that word before, it caught my eye:

Chuffed (http://english2american.com/dictionary/c.html#chuffed)
chuffed adj. Someone who describes themselves as being chuffed is generally happy with life. You can also get away with saying you are unchuffed or dischuffed if something gets your back up. Make sure you only use this word in the correct tense and familiarise yourself with the meaning of the word chuff too.

I'm definitely going to start using that.

Hi Mel. Glad it is still going well for you. I've been taking the oil for just under a week now and I went out the other night also expecting to flush heavily after a lot of drinking and a large meal. Well.. I didn't flush at all.. it was strange. I don't know if it was a fluke or whether it's working yet or not. Maybe it is already working? I think of myself as a skeptical person so I don't want to jump to conclusions.

FANTASTIC Peter .. All the best with the oil

Hi mel, you look great! and happy belated b-day
I wanted to know the web of where to buy this, and if you would happen to know the results for others using this product maybe what percentage had success? and how long have you had rosacea? Do you also get blotchy skin? anyway, I hope your success keeps going and you are a doll for helping all of us and keeping us all posted as for your results.
It is great to hear of a product with such natural ingredients having really nice results.
take care and keep in touch, tamara

Thanks lovely :D

Hey
Impressive photos. Your first picture is that of you flushing, or of permanent redness? I have a bit of permanent redness and can flush in warm weather.

Would this probably be most appropriate for preventing flushing or taken everyday or.. what?

Hi - Permanent redness - which I do still have (Just not so severe now), don't get me wrong oil did not 'rid' me of Rosacea. The oil will help with flushing and the general colour of your skin (Well it did help me)

UPDATE

The makers of the oil got in touch with me as I think they want me to help promote it – I have done a mini interview type thing over the phone – there going to get back in touch and guess what…

It’s going to the local (Essex) AND NATIONAL paper!!!!!!!!!!! :D  :D

That sounds very interesting. Once it's in the paper maybe we can post up a link or get a scan. If you could let me know the date when it comes out i'll keep an eye out.

So, are you now still in the same cheek condition as on the pics? :D

After how many days of use will the redness and the flushing of the cheeks be reduced?

And do you have to take the oil every day to keep the condition stable?

Thinking about taking the oil! :)

Hiya. My skin improved quite quickly after taking the oil for about a week. I can't really answer how long it will take in different people, as everyones different :) You have to take it everyday to keep it working, I gave it up for four weeks and regretted it!!

Why did you quit taking the oil, Princess? I've been taking it for 23 days and it has improved my skin a lot. When I get out of the shower my facial skin is only slightly pink and my flushes last only a few minutes and some days, I don't flush at all. I'm very happy with the results and hope things keep going well. SCS

Hi I am thrilled to have read your post!! I'm so glad it's helped you slightly! Fantastic news.

I got cocky when my skin cleared up, so I thought I didn't need it anymore Lol!! I'm still suffering with awful flushes at the moment - due to not taking it!!

Guys - the 'oil' :D is currently having a story written on it, with me being the main 'star' of it LOL ....... Will scan it as soon as its out!! I have been told this is what will be printed:

Hi Melissa,

I hope you’re well? Thanks for taking the time to talk to me a week or so ago. I had hoped to get this over to you a little sooner, but I just haven’t had a chance. Sorry.

Here it is though, your story. Please feel free to make any amendments you feel are necessary – I’ve had to guess at a couple of details, like how often you used to suffer from flushes – I wasn’t sure so I put once to twice a day – but please alter accordingly.

I’ve left the ‘what the experts say’ bit blank as I need to send the whole thing over to Caz once you’ve approved copy.

When you get a moment, please would you send me over copies of those photos you mentioned?

Thanks.

Any questions, please don’t hesitate to call or email.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best wishes,

Sam (Viridian)

Rosacea solution after 10 years of searching

At the young age of 11, Melissa Rishworth developed the skin condition rosacea and for the next ten years, desperately looked for ways to treat and hide it.

Now 21, Melissa, a nursery nurse from Colchester in Essex, explains how she has at last found a solution that works for her:

“I developed rosacea at a very early age. My Mum has a very high colour and so we just assumed I would take after her, but as time went on it soon became apparent that this was more than just a healthy glow.

My skin was always red; especially my face and neck, but there were times when my eyes became sore and irritated too, and during an acute attack I would flush redder still on my face and down my neck.

Physically the flushing would leave me feeling quite ill and on the inside I felt awful as well; as a teenager I was incredibly self-conscious and as soon as I was old enough, I experimented with different concealers in a desperate bid to camouflage my angry-looking, red skin.

People who knew me knew my condition but for those looking on, I obviously looked quite strange; kids would tease me asking if I’d sat in the sun for too long, whereas adults would try not to stare.

My official diagnosis came at the age of 19. My GP recommended a number of creams including steroids.

I was reluctant to use these but I did try almost everything else from over-the-counter to organic, but nothing worked; I even considered a surgical procedure called Endoscopic Transthoracic Surgery.

In the end it was quite by chance that I stumbled across a solution.

My Nan read an advert in her local paper asking for volunteers to take part in a small trial on people with rosacea and so I signed up.

We were given either a test oil or a placebo oil which we had to ingest on a daily basis. I assumed I’d been given the placebo oil because I didn’t notice any difference in my skin, not at first.

But then something quite remarkable happened. For the first time in perhaps five or six years I stopped flushing. Normally I would flush at least once or twice a day but after a week to 10 days of taking the oil, I stopped.

My skin too was looking a lot calmer - it was still red by most people’s standards, but I could see a difference.

And before long, other people began to see the difference too; first just friends and family, but then when I returned to have another photo taken at the end of the trial, they asked me to take off my make-up but I wasn’t wearing any!

That was a special moment! I think I was still smiling when I went to bed that night.

It’s been five months now since I started taking the oil and I can’t even begin to explain how pleased I am with the results. The difference in my skin then and now is incredible.”

The Oil

Melissa has been taking Viridian’s Ultimate Beauty Oil, a 100% organic food supplement containing a mix of 3:6:9 essential fatty acids.

My eyes are still red and sore. I use eyedrops to soothe them though, which works quite well.

It will be interesting how my skin is this weekend. I'm off away in Bristol for a wedding, the weather is supposed to be quite warm (but hey this is the UK - It will probably bucket down!!) - I probably will flush quite alot with the atmosphere (I'll be nervous with people I don't know) and the drink :P lol. I wish I'd taken the oil more often now! (Stopped it for a while) - I will post the photo's up if I have a major flush!

I showed my new partner my Rosacea photos. He asked to see them. It was very, very hard for me to show him & tell him about it! (I don't mind showing you guys, as I know you won't judge me) He say's he loves me regardless... call me paranoid - but I’m SURE he looks at me differently now, he tends to stare more at my skin! We had a silly row, it was quite funny actually – he said I looked abit red (it was quite a warm day though!) – and I shouted ‘I have Rosacea, deal with it!!! I have too!!’ … I told him he should never mention me looking red, lol – it’s the one thing that knocks my confidence & makes me feel rubbish all day!

My ex-fiancé was ever so good about my Rosacea; I hope my new partner doesn’t think deep down ‘Crikey, she’s hideous under the make-up!’

I hope everyone taking the oil is OK and it is helping them!!

All the best,

Melissa

I'm using this oil for 2,5 weeks now. Skin structure improved a lot. Also some acne round my nose reduced.

The redness is in the same condition as in the beginning. But when I flush/blush it doesn't feel that hot as before and also it goes away faster.

Also I feel a lot better form inside, my mood is now very strong. I don't have anxiety attacks anymore.

Today I walked through the city, and I felt realy comfortable and relaxed from inside. I enjoyed the environment very much.

And now I'm in social situation very strong!

This is EXACTLY what happened to me. It is a great feeling, my mood is good all the time. I feel comfortable going around the city where normally I would feel anxiety and want to get out. It is worth taking the oil for this effect alone.

I must say, I'm not going to continue the oil at the moment. Because the redness is the main prob.

I'm now going to try Lavendel Hydrolate and Oregano Oil.

Because for mood I can use St John and its a lot cheaper.

If the Lavendel Hydrolate and Oregano oil don't work, I'm going to try GABA and Grape Extract, maybe with some RoseHip and CatsClaw.

when all the above don't work I'm going to use blue mask to cover the redness.

And maybe I'm going to try Propanolol in combination with oxybutinyn with some Valerian.

Ow and maybe a week Minocycline, heard it will work maybe too.

When I find some combinations which work for me I'll tell to all of you.

I'm also currently testing some medicines for the bowels, cus I heard people with redness have got some probs with the bowels.

PS. I dont want to do ETS because it can ruin you sex life lol:

my oil arrived today, i had it delivered at my work. it only took about 6 days all the way from uk i think, not bad at all in delivery time. i took my 1st spoon at lunch time, will keep you all posted on results.

i pray it helps with the redness which is my primary problem along with the flushing.

im going on vacation to south american, barranquilla, colombia for christmas time so im so afraid of how i will be able to handle being there not having my air conditioner on 69 degrees like i do here in miami while i sleep. but i dont want to deprive myself of traveling and enjoying myself and with my husband.

what do i do carry the oil with me, since it suppose to be taken w/meals 3 times a day i have breakfast and lunch at the office? im afraid of it going bad on me cuase i carry it around?

saw my derm last friday gave me doxycline to take twice a day dose 20g. since im starting the oil i will wait to start the doxycline at the begining of november just to see how i do on the oil alone.

pray it helps!

Hi.. It doesn't work for everyone, I was lucky .. My main issue was the flushing - as I can cover the redness with clever make-up :D - I take the oil forever - as it's effects will run out after 3 WEEKS.

You don't have to take it with meals...... I don't know who said that?

I take 3 spoonfuls every morning or evening .. depends if I'm in a rush in the morning! :D

All the best.

what cover makeup do use? is it waterproof? do you use this on your ears?

Yes thats correct. I stopped it for 3 weeks (I was actually told it's effect's would run out after this time, but I stopped to see if that was true!) - and yes it was very true! My flushes came back so bad! and my face was alot more redder, and dry.

I use Dermablend, Dermacolour, Coverderm (not all at the same time though lol! - i find them all excellent .. my fave one being Dermacolour) .....Coverderm is the only waterproof one.

Hi All,

I’ve been on the oil for about 3 weeks, I have the small bottle and Im almost finished with it. I really haven’t noticed much of a difference. I don’t know if to order another bottle, maybe it needs more time. I order form Europe and it cost total US$30.00, for the small bottle. This week I did notice that when I was out of the shower I wasn’t as red, could it be that it’s starting to work?

In about 2 weeks im going to have another vbeam laser treatment of which I’m so scared to do. My ears get so red, my sister noticed this week that the veins behind my ears mostly the one that gets so red, my right the veins are really red even purple. And it hurts behind my ear by the head area. I just don’t understand why this is going on even around my ears. Oh my scalp has problems too, I get irritation, pimples redness, I guess I have rosacea there too, lucky me! Sorry just venting!

Hubby and me are planning a trip to Colombia, SA at the beginning of February 2008 for Carnival in Barranquilla. He is so excited about the trip, I am NOT, its very hot there, ofcourse a little cooler since its at the beginning of the year, but still every where that we will go there wont be air conditioner. At least the hotel will have a/c but still im so scared I could swear that im going to have an awful time probably end up divorced after 26 years! My husband is from there, im from Bogota Colombia, he loves the carnivals and hasn’t been to one since aobut 30 yrs. So he is really excited. Its just this stupid rosecea that is holding me back from being excited, his entire family is going to be there so it really should be fun but with my problem Im just dreading it. I am hoping that the oil starts to work, along with vbeam and maybe even orecea that I will be better by then.

Hi Alba,

I know just how you feel. It's such a drag sometimes. That it's not only affecting us but our loved ones as well.

I would try another bottle of the oil since you're not sure and definitely VBeam can help your burning and flushing. I also get that reaction with my ears and the VBeam has helped me.

It is cumulative though but with my very 1st VBeam I had the most dramatic improvement so there is every reason to think that you'll be much improved by February 2008!

Good luck Alba!!

Best wishes,
Melissa
