Hi,
I'm looking to have IPL treatment with the Palomar StarLux IPL machine as I believe this will give me the best chance of reducing facial redness. Does anyone know of any treatment centres/clincs in the UK with this machine? I live in Yorkshire, so obviously further north would be better.
Thanks.

I think Dr Patterson of Woodford Medical may have a Starux at his clinic in Essex.
Now he used to do a monthly clinic in Belper in Derbyshire, but he used to bring the Lumenis Quantum machichine to Belper, maybe now he brings a Lumenis one machine.
I do not know any reason why Starlux is better, Lumenis one is supposed to be the leading machine!!
I live in Yorkshire and travel to Dr Crouch in Swindon, there are so few really experienced IPL people for our probleml

Now that is interesting! I've had 1 IPL treatment 10 days ago with Dr Patterson at the Belper Clinic. When I went I hadn't really read up on the process - just in a rush to start treatment. Now after reading about the different IPL models and filters that can be used, it seems shallow filters are best to reduce surface redness. I read that the StarLux Lux G has a 532-nm filter as opposed to the Quantum which has a 560-nm filter.
I'll certainly ask Dr Patterson more on my 2nd treatment, but I don't want to appear rude or to be questionning his treatment - The reason I chose him is because of his excellent reputation.
The picture on the Woodford Medical website (http://www.woodfordmedical.com/photore.asp) shows the IPL machine I was treated with. Does anyone know what model this is?

I think he uses the quantum IPL. Bob Bear was treated by him with it and if you search under BB's name you can see all of his old posts (or if not PM him).
I wouldn't worry about asking questions, he should be happy to discuss treatment. I go to Dr Crouch and always ask loads of questions :D

Flemmo, the head of the machine shown in the photo is a Lumenis probably the Quantum, Dr P had a Lumenis One on trial I do not know if he ever bought it, I am pretty sure he had a Starlux in Essex, but only used to bring the Quantum to Belper, as far as filters, most machines have a fairly wide range of filters available but Dr P only does one pass treatments as far as I know so uses one filter and tends to increase the flux setting to vary treatment rather than change filters, but you should discuss it with hm!

will do
I rang The Burghley Park Clinic and it looks like they are booked up until July! They do seem to be the best though - tailoring your treatment specifically to your needs. I think I'll finish the 3 course treatment with Dr Patterson and see how my skin is then. patience is a virtue.
