I've had this condition since i was 13 (I'm 18 now) and i've seen two doctors and one derm all saying its not rosacea(I'm curious what it is then). I've heard its going to go away when im around 20? I'm not positive its going to happen. im very curious as to what you guys think it is, I can take more pictures if needed and im willing to answer any questions.

Some people just have red cheeks that are not rosacea. I had a conversation with Dr Crouch about this and he said Prince Harry does not have rosacea but red face syndrome (i think that what its called).

If I remember I will ask him abit more about it when I go next week.

I have seen lots of young boys with skin similar to yours.

I take it you don't have any papules of long bouts of flushing.

You may or you may not have rosacea. It's sometimes really hard to tell when people are young. Almost everyone gets flushed after exercising but do your red cheeks stay that way for a long time afterwards? Do you get red cheeks after eating certain foods or drinks or when you're stressed out? Do you have sensitive skin? It might help to keep a journal of when the redness happens and for how long and then take that info to your doctor if the redness happens a lot.

My symptoms looks very similar to your own, and my doc said the same to me. Then again, one of his reasons was that Im 'not a middle aged white woman'. So Im taking his opinion with a pinch of salt!

Im no expert, but I think progression must be one of the main things to look out for. Have you flushes gotten worse over time? Do you see any signs of damaged vessels near the surface of the skin? If I am correct, these would be tell tale signs of rosacea.

a girl i know has had exactly the same condition - "just" read cheeks (no burning, papules, pastules, whatever else involved). although three docs said it's due to some allergic reaction she had one! photoderm session and everything was fine after.

a close observer could notice that she had visible broken veins, but if she wasn't flushed they were barely visible at all.

Hi,

My brothers skin is just like that!

You may like to try a cream that helps like SYNCHROROSEŽ which isn't just for Rosacea prone skin.

It : VISIBLY REDUCES ROSACEA, FLUSHING, BLUSHING SKIN & THREAD VEINS

Sensitive skin?
Do you have thread or spider veins?
Do you get flushing, blushing or have permanently red areas?

Reduces flushing, blushing by raising the skin's tolerance to 'triggers'

Clinically proven to reduce facial redness within 10-14 days

Independently tested in hospitals by dermatologists

Proven to diminish thread veins & resist the formation of new ones

I got mine off eBay..

Good luck!

If you were younger I would say that you had the Fifth disease. If you look it up you will see a picture of someone's cheeks that look like yours.

Do you get redness anywhere else on your body?
What products do you use on your face?
Is it always red or just certain times?

I dont really think you should pay attention to what the name of your condition is but to what you can do about it. Drs told me that I didnt have rosacea either, most probably because we are young or because we dont have p&ps. It seems to me that lasers or IPL can treat redness of your face much easier than that of many diagnosed rosaceans.

Looks exactly like rosacea.

In fact, it it looks EXACTLY like MY rosacea. Please don't try to tell me I don't have rosacea - as I most certainly do.

- and you shouldn't be telling him that either. If it was his complexion, he would know.

If you read the replies none of us have said he doesn't have rosacea. He has asked for opinions and a number of people have given them. You will also note that we have asked him to confirm a number of othr symptoms.

One person in my class had cheeks like that..he never flushed or blushed or anything like that, he definetly didn't have rosacea. I don't think that is rosacea..In my opinion it doesnt look strange either

I mean if it's purely an aesthetic problem ( as you see it, I surely don't think it looks strange) then it is not roscea. If your cheeks would burn somtimes or flush, and you would see this by your cheeks getting more red, then it would be a whole other story. Then it would probably be rosacea. But just red cheeks and no burning/flushing or any other problem associated with rosacea, is not rosacea. (in my opinion) My advice is if you dont flush or anything umcomfartable like that, then stop worrying about the cheeks and be happy!

I looked the same when I was younger. My grew tremendously worse. Now I have bad rosacea with permanently swollen cheeks, redness and flushes, everything you can think of triggers flushes. I can't even concentrate or engage in anything without my face flaring up. It really sux.

keratosis pilaris can sometimes be diagnosed as pre-rosacea. I wish dermatologists and others would spend some time on this, because it should be able to be cured. I think the simple non-rosacea red cheeks (with flushing episodes) is either directly related to food intake, or some unknown mite/virus (also related to food intake, and how our bodies react with it). It pisses me off that their isn't a cure yet, their would be if any time and money was spent on quality research.

one of my friends had something just like that, its not rosacea but its more like a pre-rosacea, if I were you I would treat it as rosacea case and get medicine

it looks exactly like KPRF to me...i have the same. it shares traits with rosacea, but the treatmnets for rosacea don't really work well for the condition, in my experience.
Pop over to KP board and see for yourself:

KPRF, IMO many of the people on this forum have it and think it is rosacea.

The nutshell version is that diagnosis for rosacea is reserved for physicians. There is
no clinical test for rosacea. Diagnosis is determined by an examination from a physician.
There are so many skin conditions that mimic rosacea that it becomes bewildering not
only to a rosacean but to a physician. A physician must rule out other skin conditions/diseases that mimic rosacea. The NRS has come up with a classification system for rosacea which seems to help all the physicians to be on the same page, but there is so much confusion and mystery about rosacea that a physician has to keep up with so much information that misdiagnosis is not uncommon. A rosacean may initially get a diagnosis for rosacea or some other skin condition/disease and later finds out it was misdiagnosed. Such anecdotal reports are common in the rosacea online groups. No one can diagnose rosacea over the internet with photos (by the way, what happened to the photos?). A history and examination are required. If your physician has diagnosed you with rosacea, what is the diagnosis? What did he say you have? I would stick with your physician unless you want to get a second opinion from another qualified dermatologist familiar with rosacea.

I have compiled a list of over 54 skin conditions/diseases that mimic rosacea. You may simply have whatever your physician has diagnosed what you have. I am curious what he says you have.
