My face is - as always very hot, and I know this won't stop this or the flushes but I am willing to keep using it as I don't think it looks to bad!!

Testing time will be tomorrow night! Out on a works do .. Hot pub .. Alcohol ... Doesn't do my face any favors! :?

Where are you going for IPL?

That Dermablend looks fantastic on you. Is it oil based? How do you wash it off?

I found that baby oil is perfect for removing camo creams. I literally dissolves the stuff right there on your face! I kid you not.

That looks fantastic, it covers it really well and from the photo's looks really natural. How's it look close up?
I use kroylan makeup sometimes (by dermacolour) and like Bob Bear said any oil with dissolve it right off, fixing powder and all.

Thanks Sarah. It is in a little pot and it's very thick creme. I am going for IPL at the Sudbury/Boxted Clinic.

Froggirl - If applied correctly it looks flawless, I am really chuffed with it!! When I first used it I forgot to put some on my neck, so neck was quite red compared to my face!

It comes off very easily with my normal (Green Tea) make-up remover!

If anyone would like to add me to MSN or email me to swap advice, photos and story's please do! Princess_Illusion@hotmail.com.

As you can see from the picture below (Top photos are without any make-up on) and the bottom ones are with it on. 3rd photo in - you can see I'm quite flushed, as obviously the make-up won't hide the flushing!

Out of interest what made you decide to go to the Sudbury clinic?

Make sure that they don't turn the power up to high as rosacea skin can be quite sensitive (obviously) and its better to have more sessions at a lower setting then one or two really strong ones. Don't forget to stop taking grape seed extract if you are taking it at least a week before treatment.

Best wishes

You are quite lovely -- with or without it. It really does hide the red! Even though it doesn't cover your flush completely in that third picture it does a pretty good job of toning it down, this probably helps it look more natural, less mask-like.

Got it down to a fine art now.. (I think!) lol I can apply it within a few minutes.. My forehead still looks a little dodgy & make-up can't really help that but I don't think it looks to bad.. Just not ideal to wear out to a nightclub as it melts away lol!

Mel,

I just wondered what place you was using in sudbury / boxted for your IPL? Did you see a consultant who explained the process and that to you? Im from ipswich / colchester way myself and am looking for a place to get IPL treatment myself. Have you or anyone else been to glancey medical in east bergholt or heard anything about them?

Doesn't Dr Patterson have a clinic out colchester way? I'm sure BB has mentioned this before. I think Dr patterson has an IPL machine but not the Luminis 1 though

Hi PI,
the dermablend looks amazing on you!!

I got a little sample pack and found a good colour for me... problem is it kind of went flaky after a while. Perhaps my skin is to dry for it.

Do you put moisturiser on before the dermablend???

good luck with IPL, I had my first session a few weeks ago. so far good.
best wishes

Hiya Moomy, :D

Try Dermacolour Camouflage Cream (I actually found its better then Dermablend!! - I tried Dermacolour - after I'd written this thread on Dermablend lol!) COVERDERM is also fab stuff!! There are so many products out there, its great :).

It shouldn't go flaky...My skin is like sandpaper, seriously - it's sooooo dry but it still doesn't flake when I wear make-up!! I apply E45 first (any basic moisturiser will do though!) then Fade out, then Dermacolour.

I feel 10 times happier and more confident when I have it on, hence lots of posing photos  !!

Did IPL leave you all bruised?? I keep seeing/hearing horror story's on it which puts me off!

You really are good at applying it.

IPL shouldn't really leave any bruises. You face will feel red and possibly at bit swollen for a few days aswell as being extra sensitive and flushy.

Moomy had it done a couple of weeks ago and I'm sure she would be happy for you to PM her about it.

When I had it done my face was very sensitive for a few weeks but when it did calm down the results were good. I would definetly recommend that you go to someone who has lots of experience with treating rosacea. I travel 2 hours each way to make sure I go to someone that I am confident in.

Thanks PI,

The IPL didn't leave any bruises, I was purple for a few hours but by the next day I was looking better than before the treatment. I've had a few more p&p's 2 weeks since the treatment but they seem to be fading now.

I travel 4 hours each way on the train to get the IPL so it's quite a day out for me.. but worth it to see a doctor that I feel knows what he's doing. I'm in Yorkshrie and there doesn't seem to be any good practitioners up here ...

I will experiment more with the make up, I think I'm not putting enough on, do you put quite a lot on?? Do you just rub it on with your fingers??

Moomy

Thanks Moomy & phlika29, :D

Moomy - I put a fair amount on - you can actually put it on with spatula, but I prefer using my fingertips.

The best thing is not too apply to much powder as it clogs easily, I only put a tiny bit of powder on over the foundation.

The whole IPL think has left me confused, it's only a cosmetic salon but they assure me their good, lol :?

If its only a cosmetic salon then unless they have experience of treating rosacea I would be a little wary. Cosmetic salons tend to treat a little agressively because people without rosacea generally have less sensitive skin.

Did you find out any specifics about the treatment:

What the aim is, the likely outcome, who will be doing the treatment, the filters they will the using, the protocol (ie one pass with one filter, etc).

You don't need any qualification to do lasers and they may have been on a one dy course and thats it. Whilst it might be okay if this is for photorejuvenation and surface redenss, flushing is little more complex.

Finally all laser centres need to be registered with the health care comission and you should be able to search for their reports of inspections:

Hi PI,

Have you asked the salon about their experience with treating rosacea? Perhaps if they have had a lot of sucess it will be ok??

I've read about a lot of people getting worse after IPL so it's worth being very careful and researching the options.

Thanks for the info on dermablend... I think I was using too much powder.

best wishes
