Well, I don't know really. I don't take any meds but if I was still on Doxy, I would still do my red lights. I can't really see why you couldn't.

Yeah. You should be fine. I have used both for 18 months, no problems. Red light is so low-energy, and not UV. Even IPL/lasers operate above the UV spectrum--that's why you can continue to take them while undergoing laser therapy.

It's UV light (around 400 nm and lower) that really causes problems with the cycline antibiotics and rosacea; red light is totally different in its place on the spectrum. So, even if you're using photosensitizing antibiotics, you should be good to go. :D

This is great to know. I use red/infrared combo right now, but if I ever go back on antibiotics, I'll switch to all red.

Artist, you'll be fine with what you have, you don't need to switch if you start antibiotics. The NIR is 880nm +/- while the UV end, where photosensitivity occurs, is in the 400nm range and lower. Always a good idea to test things out though.

Hi, I 'm sorry to bring up an old thread but I was searching the archives to see if it is OK to take antibiotics (specifically Doxy) with Red light and IPL. So it looks as if that's OK. If there is any different info regarding this I would appreciate your thoughts.

Not sure about IPL cos I don't do that myself but red light therapy should be fine. Once I get Greg to set up my array again, I will be doing it whilst taking Doxy. Maybe I should just drag it out of the box and hold it above my face?! LOL
