Sorry for these querstions but I'm trying to get to grips with this and its confusing reading all the different products and methods etc
Firstly, is there a difference in the results expected from a tube or LED system? Do they treat different causes/symtoms or are they pretty much the same other then the way they work?
Secondly, are there different colours/methods that suit different types of Rosacea? I don't know much about Rosacea, I just put my redness down to excessive flushing, with blushing as a secondary cause. Im pretty red most of the time, but a bad flush and it because beetroot. This seems to be caused from extremes of temperature, alcohol etc etc.
Hopefully someone can give me some pointers.
Thanks very much.

Hi Capri,
There is a bit to slog through, and it is more of a challenge because there is no one source for all the answers.
Here's a link you may want to start with:

The thing is, there is a lot of reading for this but that thread covers enough to give you a good leg up.
I'll post in the ESFB as well in response to your question.

Thanks TP! I think I'm a little nearer to understanding the whole thing!
Couple more questions if I may(sorry!)
If I understand things properly, "near infra-red" is more powerful then normal RLT but you've got to be careful with the eyes, so do you think that it would be wise to try without Near IR first and then if it does give the disired results try one with?
Secondly, should the treatment be tried with or without a flushed face? I always have residual redness but at times it can become worse. Or doesn't it matter either way? Should you attempt to try it at the same level of "flushedness" all the time?
Many thanks for anyone who is able to give a few pointers. I appriciate and understand that nobody knows definatively so all I'm after is advice and expierence.
Thanks again.

Hi Capri,
I started with an all red unit, then switched to Red + NIR. Some folks do that, some don't. It's a personal decision.
I have a DPL unit (click here) (http://www.lighttherapyproducts.com/LEDskinlight.html) that is mostly 880nm (NIR) and they say that there has been no instance of eye damage. They caution that you should not look into the LEDs and recommend you keep your eyes closed whilst treatment is in progress. They do provide 'eye shields' but these are a laughable strip of black oval stickers, which are inadequate to cover my eye socket size and uncomfortable to remove! There are a few members here who use the DPL unit. I just close my eyes. I used to use metal goggles with my big 660/880nm unit but my eye lids have symptoms too so now I just keep my eyes closed. I'm not recommending this, it's just what I do.
It not like laser therapy where you want to preflush to engorge vessels so they can be zapped or fried, or what-have-you. This is a gentle process that stimulates the bodies own processes to heal. So using it pale or flushed is fine. When I am flushed I will throw in an extra session, or if I know I am going to be doing something that will make me flush. I also use it with or without my MetroCream. Some professional and salon sites say the treatment enhances absorption. I don't know if that's true, but I don't make any special consideration for it.

Thanks TP. With the help of you and Peter I think I have started to make sense of it. I think I will try just an all-red one to begin with, probably the Dermalux tubed version but since they look to be closed for the Christmas holidays it will give me more time to research. No point rushing, I've lived with this for 8 years now!
Many thanks for you help, its much appricated.
