Hi Matt

Well, I don't really know for sure. Could be Rosacea. I'm a bit frightened to say either way, incase 'stb09' jumps on me for 'over-diagnosing'! Sorry, I shouldn't be narky, huh! I'm pulling an all-nighter! The birds have just woken up! Doh!

What I see is inflamed skin. First pic, with the hand inprint...is this a normal occurrence for you? Looks really sore. Is it?

Second pic...nice tatt...but to the face...again it looks like sore and sensistive skin. Looks like a morning shot? Your ears looks red and hot too.

Third pic, no redness there but I see a few possible papules/pustules. Are they sore?

Forth pic...I think the lighting makes it difficult to tell. This pic looks 'normal'.

Hey, not sure if any of this helps at all really.

Just a comment on the Cuba holiday. Did you spend time by the ocean...at the beach? I've read many posts where Rosaceans have been on holiday at the sea side and their skin clears up. Alas, returns when they get home. One thing I want to try is sea salt rinses on my face. Must get around to trying that! Way too much time spent on-line! Urgh!

Anyway, hope you can find something that works for you Matt.

Jen

Hey Jen,

Pic 1) This is proably the worst it gets the skin feels very hot to touch and when i do i can leave a hand print mark there for bout 6 /7 seconds then it fades, funnily enough its not sore to touch!

Pic 2) Again this is proably the red of all red that i have gone, skin felt dry and abit sore to touch, although no P&P was there, if i remember rightly i think this was an afternoon shot! My face always seems to be calmer in the mornings :?

Pic 3) This was taken about an hour or so after pic 3, the redness faded loads and just left these little pink patches, no P&P, although i do get milia under my eyes, wahooo how lucky i am lol

Pic 4) Spent every day at the beach, sunbathing about 7 hours a day and swimming in the sea, although i must say the salt water did on ocasions make my face sting, mainly around the nose, beard and tash area, same when i applied sun cream kinda had a stinging sensation in these areas.

Its all so confusing that im just starting to hope that maybe a shade of red will be in next season lol Had so many different diagnoses of docs and derms i.e seb derm, perioral dermatitis :? , rosacea, pre rosacea, urticaria and still NO skin tests or biopsys TUT been on so many lotions and potions!

Flare ups are mainly at work and can come out in little bumps and the skin will go red, but then most of the time these bumps and redness will disapear till the next time, normally bout 20mins lol

I have had no history of blushing / flushing and just started one night out of the blue, got another appointment with a private dermatlogist next friday so will see what he has to say. So far he has said perioral dermatitis, rosacea and urticaria lol ooo whats next maybe i will suggest a skin biopsy to him! Spoke briefly on the phone to him and I have a funny feeling he wants to put me immune suppressants, although im still pretty convinced it could be rosacea

It's just that sitting in front of a screen like that can be a trigger.

Well, I'm glad that it's not sore to touch. My face is like that - poke a finger on it and it turns white there. I once thought about the possibility of 'pressure treatment' on the face. There's no such thing but it was just a thought that was swilling around in my mind. That is, to somehow replicate the whiteness that happens with pressure. Not sure how it could be done, or whether it would only last a few seconds. Maybe just a silly thought! Mmm!

Some say their face is calmer in the mornings, others say the opposite. Not everyone gets p&ps - be glad that you don't get 'em!

LOL Pic 3 taken an hour after pic 3? Not everyone with Rosacea has a permanent red face. The pink patches might be more obvious after your face has gone back to normal colour.

Immune suppressants? See how it goes with the Derm. It can be hard to tell with photos but I do see something happening there. I hope it's not Rosacea, for your sake!

Looks like Rosacea--quite a bit like mine was. On your face, at least. That neck area bit might be something unrelated, or you may just have a propensity toward being red. Of course, you'd have to assess it based on your triggers and how you respond. It's sort of a problem with digicam flashes--they tend to wipe out the colors one sees in the mirror. :x
