Hi, I was diagnosed with mild Rosacea about 4 months ago. I am on Minocycline and Metrogel 1% now. The Mino has really seemed to calm the redness and the metro helps too. Anyways, I am also changing my diet in addittion. I figure if I do this early on, it can deffinetly help my rosacea and at the very least help prevent future health problems. The diet I am on is low to moderate carbs, very low sugar, low fast and processed foods and high amounts of Veggies. This has been quite a drastic change compaired to what I used to eat, being I was a typical college student. But I really haven't found the change hard and have been doing it for about 4 weeks now. I usually eat around 2 servings each of veggies with lunch and dinner, but I'm wondering what else people with similar diets actually eat. I have been eating Salmon and will start to eat even more fish as well. Are there any meats or other foods people with similar diets eat? I know this isn;t a probably a typical Rosacea diet but I've already made some drastic changed and don;t feel the need to take it to the extreme yet. Every time I search for Low carb diet or something like that on google I always get websites simply selling low carb food but no suggestions. I am also interested in starting to take some suppliments as well and drinking green tea, but I don;t know much about these either. Any advice is welcome. Thanks to all of those who offer advice on here. I think one day in the not tooo distant future we will have a breakthrough but in the mean time I want to help myself. Thanks PS. Sorry the post was so long
no more red cheeks!

Good for you! I have found that antibiotics are only a band-aid solution - very soon after you stop taking them the rosacea flares up again, perhaps even worse, so taking stock of your diet is an important part of the long term solution. I have had excellent results with my alkalizing diet, and if you search my posts you will find lots of information. Lately I am realizing how important saturated fats are for our health too, so I'm starting to add back in much more meat and dairy. Jen (redhotoz) is the one for good advice in this direction!
Good luck!

Hi Evan
Do e-mail me if you would like me to send you some detailed info. I can't remember if I have already sent you the intro file for the diet I am on, or not?
I've posted quite a bit about what I eat etc. but basically I make up a raw egg drink for breakfast (3 raw eggs, 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, 2 tablespoons of butter, about 1 1/2 cups of filtered water - whizzed up in a blender and drunk). It's quick and easy first thing in the morning. I sometimes add other things to this.
The supplements I take are Fish Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Calcium/Magnesium (equal proportions), Vitamin C with bioflavanoids and a B Complex. If I don't get enough sun, I take Cod Liver Oil which contains Vitamin A and D (this replaces taking Fish Oil and Vitamin A).
For lunch it can be an omelette with 2-3 eggs, sliced onion, garlic, sometimes diced tomato with a side salad (fresh from my garden) or left over meat from a roast with a side salad. If I've made a quiche (eg. bacon, onion, garlic - fried in coconut oil, plus chopped spinach and tomato slices, placed into a quiche dish with beaten eggs and baked in the oven) I will have a large slice with a side salad. I drizzle a mix of extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice and sea salt over my salads. If I've made a bone broth, I will have a big bowl of this for lunch.
For dinner it depends on the mood. It can be chicken/lamb/pork/beef/fish etc - fried or roasted with vegies like broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower - drizzling the fat from the pan over my vegies. Oh, I've just started eating home made sauerkraut too, a tablespoon at a time on the side of my plate.
I've also just started drinking home made lacto-fermented cabbage juice in the afternoon too. I know it sounds horrid but it tastes a bit like lemonade - designed to plant good bacteria (Lactobacillus).
I sprinkle sea salt over all of my meals (except the egg drink). I drink lemon juice/sea salt/water up to 6 times a day.
I always have my egg drink for breakfast but lunch and dinner vary depending on mood. There's lots of choices. I can also e-mail you a list of included foods.
If you want to know how many grams of fat/protein/carbs are in any given food, you can join www.fitday.com which is free. You just type in the food and it gives you all the info. So you can then select low carb vegies etc.
Hope this helps a little and do e-mail me if you would like a copy of the intro file if I haven't already sent it to you. Oh, the intro file was recently up-dated, so if I did send it to you before, you might want to have a look at the up-dated version.
Good luck!
Jen
