I have been looking this up online extensively but I cannot find any answers anywhere. Even on yahoo rosacea support groups.
Online it's a bit hard because all the "acne lamps" available are specifically targeted at acne and don't even mention their use in rosacea.
As you already know it's quite an expensive amount to shell out on something if you don't know exactly what you need.
My main questions relate to the different types of lights you can get, to my knowledge this is red, blue and infrared (near infrared) as some people call it, also when you purchase a lamp you can get any combination of red, blue. red and blue or red and infrared (although I havent found this yet)
So which kind of unit should I be looking for here? Obviously red seems better because of it's anti inflammitory properties, but I am thinking maybe red and blue would be better, because according to the testimonials on manufacturers websites, this combo works best. (although they specified its use in acne) Finally what is the difference between flourscent and LED. to my limited understanding, led is more expensive but emits a more powerful light, wheras flourescent is cheaper, but the lamps can be easily replaced.
A little about my rosacea...
I have a mild but extremely persistant form of rosacea, which appaers as a pink thumbprint size area at the side of my nose, and another two thumbprint size areas above my eyes close to my nose, aswell as numerous "sun spots" which are not bumps or filled with pus, which appear
throughout my face but especially at the sides of my mouth and the top of my cheek bones.
I have not been able to identify many food triggers, if any at all, my main triggers seem to be heat , stress , sleeping and washing.
I have reduced the heat trigger by always sitting near a fan, and the same is true for sleeping too as I keep a fan blowing in my direction while I sleep and I have not woken up yet with a bad flareup (yet) however if I wash or shower in the morning, the areas I described illuminate a bright red, but this seems to dissapate in about 15-20 minutes (though sometimes not completely)
I have taken to drinking a lot more water, eating more fruit and veg while cutting down sugary foods and white breads and potatoes and today im starting to wear mineral sunscreen/foundation and consuming grape seed extract 100 mg.
anyway back to the original question. if you can tell me anything about light therapy I would appreciate it. I raelly need to find a place that sells this in the united kingdom, because 200 for a unit is already pretty steep so I don't need to pay expensive P&P charges on top of this.
thanks for taking the time to read.
Two lamps im looking at now

I like the second one.. just in case my skin doesnt like flourescent lights. although that one is from america. and more pricey. Still I like the idea of having two heads and putting them at an angle to my face.
