I first read about Dr. Johnson last year when he was out in Arizona being trained on the "Lumenis 1" by Dr. Soldo. - I e-mailed him twice and he responded very quickly and was very forthcoming. - Dr. Johnson also has rosacea and he takes it very seriously, he impressed me. When he returnd to Tennessee he bought his own "Lumenis 1" -- You can check out his website, I just entered his name on Yahoo. -- Thought this might be of interest to those people in the mid-south, worth a look anyways..

I've been getting IPL with Dr. Johnson and I would recommend him. He also gave me Botox in my ears which helped with their flushing and he put me on Zebeta, a selective beta blocker that really helped lower my flushing. IPL treatments with Dr. Johnson have been good for removing red on my face and lowering my flushing too.

Hi Wrinkledclue, -- Can you tell us how many treatments you've had, he used the Lumenis1 on you? -- How many passes, how long was the treatment? - Did you pre-flush with anything??

Yes, the Lumenis One, with 3 passes on different filters, with no pre-flushing. I really didn't want to write about the IPL, though it has helped enormously. The info I really wanted to get across was on Zebeta because it hardly ever gets mentioned. Awful to think many rosaceans might benefit greatly from this but have never heard of it. This board is so angry I was very hesitant about joining. Think I'll drop back now I've had my say. Just wanted to say if you have a lot of flushing, it might be worth asking your doctor's opinion of Zebeta.

I believe this doctor would probably be a good option for me. I was considering Dr. Soldo, but the distance is putting me off, on top of the fact that being outside in Arizona this summer would probably cause my head to exploded
I checked his website and like his conservative claims. He doesn't give percentages, just uses general terms like "most" and "a lot". I don't have much in the way of persistent redness, but my nose and ears flush like crazy. Does IPL sound like a good option to reduce the flushing, or should I be focusing more on lasers like the YAG?
Also, any pricing information would be great, I'll likely be calling his office this coming week, I have a lot of stress this week with finals...yay for my ears =/

Where do you live? - I've e-mailed Dr. Johnson with questions a few times and he replies very quickly.

I'm in Indianapolis. I know I know, people think this is like the Mecca for dermatology, but I've found it's hit or miss. Most IPLs here are performed in spas, and I'm not really looking for V-beam from Dr. Hanke. I'll email him, I was just curious as to others' experiences with him. Any reduction in flushing or things like that?

Sevierville is a 45 min. drive from the Knoxville airport, I had just a basic map from the car rental kiosk in the airport and was able to find Dr. Johnsons' office in an hours time. My 1st time staying in that part of the country, plenty to do and see, the Smokey mountains look great. Will be returning at the end of the month for my 2nd treatment.

Hey gang,
Just back from my 8th TX with Doc Johnson on the Lumenis1, I'm doing great and had just gone 6 months between TX's, I had the usual 3 pass's on my face and had my ears done for 1 pass. I had some problems a few weeks ago, when I had stopped taking Oracea and started taking a Nitric Oxide booster and supplements for my cardiovascular problems, but after stopping the supplements, and beginning with the Oracea again, I returned to clear skin.
Before I had my ears treated, they would feel like they're burning and they turned bright red in the early evening, my right ear especially. It took about 6 TX on my ears and now I rarely have any problems with them, maybe 2 days a month, and the pain and redness is reduced by 90% on those 2 days.
So that's it so far, I'm taking Oracea daily, will continue going down to Tennessee for Lumenis1 TX's, and am awaiting the release of Sansrosa. I was really depressed with this disease for 6 or 7 years before I found what works for me, there is hope and the future will only bring us more good news and treatments/cure. Don't give up!
