Hello,

I have mentioned about my study abroad plans in my previous posts. I finally could get some financial aid and moving to Toronto for one year at least. As a rosacean who is not used to living away from home, I am kind of anxious.

I am trying to find a good place to stay during my studies. I am here to ask opinions of people from Toronto. I am going to study at Ryerson University which is at the downtown area. I dont know if renting an apartment would be a good idea... I thought best thing would be finding a residence or dormitory near my school. ( Ryerson residences are open to 1st year undergraduate student only so that I cant use them.)

I heard that winters can get really cold in Toronto so I am willing to stay outside as limited as possible to protect my skin from extreme cold.

I am stucked and need recommendations from those who know that area very well.

Thank u in advance for your ideas.

Francois

how much does residence cost? renting anything in toronto especially downtown can be quite expensive?

Well, the residence costs about 400-450 dollars per month. I recently found out that one of my friends that I havent seen for a long time is moving to Toronto as well. So we decided to rent a 1 bedroom appartment in Toronto area. Something between 700-800 would be enough for a one bedroom a bit furnished apt?

I havent arranged a place yet. So I think I will stay at school residence for couple of days till we find an apt. I found out that downtown is too expensive and any place a bit outside is also fine.

I think if you have the opportunity to get into residence you should take it. It's quite difficult as it is to get in and they offer a pretty good deal. I go to the University of Toronto and I know there are some places available in the College and Bathurst area. But that would only be worth it with a roommate and residence may still be cheaper.

Good Luck
