I was told by my derm that I have mild - moderate roseaca. I read that Kinerase cream was well tolerated by sensitive skin..... :?:

Hi Emma

Welcome to the Forum.

I hadn't heard of Kinerase before so did a quick Google search on it. It doesn't appear to have been mentioned in this Forum before either, after doing a Forum search for it. Looks ok but pretty pricey! Normal price USD117 but I see other web sites have it cheaper ($79.00 - isn't the Net wonderful for providing cheaper products!)

Ingredients: "Purified water, glyceryl stearate and laureth-23, isopropyl palmitate, propylene glycol, stearic acid, cetyl alcohol, carthamus tinctorius (seaflower) seed oil, soya sterol, stearyl alcohol, dimethicone, imidazolidinyl urea, citric acid, sodium hydroxide, methylparaben, soluble collagen, carbomer, N6-furfuryladenine, panthenol, propylparaben, triethanolamine, ascorbic acid, hydrolyzed elastin, and aloe barbadensis leaf juice."

I'm not sure about all of the ingredients. Nothing really jumps out at me and screams nooooooo! LOL As far as I understand, the alcohols mentioned are just to hold/make-up the cream. Not like the drinking or burning type of alcohol, like in a toner. (Oh, don't use a toner on a Rosacean face...well...that's my opinion).

Have you tried many other products? Cetaphil cleansing bar is pretty cheap and well tolerated by many. I have used it and liked it but I now use an oatmeal cleansing bar from an NZ company www.beautiful-skin-online.com which I love. I use the natural oils for moisturising, my favourite being Rose Hip Oil and I have just started trying Emu Oil - so far, so good. (I had to try it, I'm an Aussie! LOL) Jojoba Oil is another one to consider. You can mix in other oils like Tea Tree Oil too. I've also used Hemp Seed Oil but I believe that is harder to get for most. My point being is that oils are cheap and you only need a few drops. I buy Rose Hip Oil for AUD17.95 (about USD12.50) and it lasts me about 4 months.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to try. Just some of my ideas and thoughts.

I used Cutanix which was supposed to be very mild and good for sensitive skin. I put a test patch on my forehead which was free from any trouble and it tingled so I washed it off and it ran all down my face. It took a layer of skin off which still tingles after 8 months. So although they say they are mild and I know that Kinerase is used with in conjunction with IPL treatment, you never know what reaction an individual will get. I used to use E45, for 5 years, then when I went for my first IPL the nurse looked shocked so I changed. I have been going downhill ever since, irritated my skin and have got 3rd degree burns all over my face from IPL.

Oh Nessie. I'm so sorry to hear that you got third degree burns from IPL!!! OMG!!! What happened? How long ago did this happen? Did you have to have your face bandaged up for a while? Ouch! What has been recommended to try and salvage your skin?

Hi Jen,

I had the IPL treatment last year. I had three. The first one was good, the second I had blisters but they said that was normal. I was not going back but I recovered and did a third. Wrong decision. My face swelled, with massive blistering. That was November last year. My doctor told me to moisturise. Wrong again. I should have let them dry up. I think the IPL reacted with something I was using. The clinic did not give me any written instructions on before or after care so maybe in a way it was my fault for not making sure about it. Strangely enough earlier that year I saw a picture of a lady who came up a a big blister on her chin and I said I am never doing that. It was photofacial and I though IPL was a different treatment. I realise now that I am the biggest fool going. I am still in agony, don't sleep, am cut to pieces. The only thing I use is aqueous cream to wash. I could not wash for months. I do use Emu oil and that is excellent. When I read what you said about not letting lasers near you - that was my feeling last year. I have already seen a derm but found out later he was a consultant at another branch of the clinic and he was horrible to me. Dr Felix of Frimley Park. The clinic is the Skin Clinic Odiham. Looks like I could be like this for life, certainly the scars will be. Don't ever consider IPL. It is too hot and too dangerous.

I'm truly sorry to hear about your experience Nessie!

I made an appointment for PDL with my Derm, which was supposed to happen 16 June. I cancelled it. I have no desire to go back to a Derm ever again and will not let a laser near my face whatsoever! He was a nightmare Derm. He said "You have every right be to upset and cry! If I looked the way you do, I wouldn't want to be seen out in public either!" URGH!!!

I learn more about how to control Rosacea on this Forum, in the Yahoo Rosacea Support Group and now the Yahoo Candida Support Group with the diet I am on (natural healing - not just for Candida). Red light therapy is also helping.

I do plan on writing to my ex-Derm ater I've been on the natural healing path for 6 months to PROVE to him that it CAN be done! He challenged me to prove it, so I will. HAH! I soo want to say "So there, stick it up your bum, chum!" but of course I can't say that on this Forum! LOL Opps! I just did!

Sending you all my *happy* vibes!

Hi Jen,

I sorry for what your derm said. I think that they are all very insensitive. When I went back to my doctor when I swelled up she said - well what kind of help do you need? I thought your the bleeding doctor - silly cow.

What is your home made LED array? Very curious.

Thank you for the kind vibes - I send you them too.

Yes, it was quite a blow to the old morale at the time but in some ways that rotten old Derm made me stronger and more willing to fight this Rosacea thing out!

Here's my red LED array:

I love it!
